For the 25 years that I have lived in the village I have always attended the annual parish meeting and liked the fact that at the end of the formal part of the meeting the chair of the parish council provides drinks and the opportunity for informal discussion.
This has also been a great way to support the village shop because the wine and soft drinks have always been bought from them.
I was dismayed to discover that for the first time, for this year’s meeting held last night, the chair chose not to support the village community shop but rather buy it from his favourite wine club.
I am increasingly wondering just whose interests the parish council really support.
